Fremont Map of 1848
John C. Fremont was one of the first representatives of the U.S. government to map the area of Southern Oregon and Northern California. His report to Congress was entitled, Report of the Exploring Expedition to the Rocky Mountains in the Year 1842 and to Oregon and North California in the years 1843-'44. You can see that there was some big gaps in the area around Glendale. This is a photo of an original map produced in 1848.
